Lan Ha Bay is often called by tourists as the Ha Long Bay of Hai Phong because of the wild and beautiful natural scenery here. Surrounding the Eastern part of Cat Ba Island (Hai Phong), it is an open destination that many travellers have not discovered. Let’s take a trip here when it is still unspoiled by tourism activities.
1. Exploring Lan Ha Bay – a forgotten paradise in Vietnam
Located in the southern part of Ha Long Bay and the east of Cat Ba Island, Lan Ha Bay has a total area of over 7,000ha. It stands out by the spectacular beauty of about 400 large and small islands in many interesting shapes. Unlike Ha Long Bay, all the islands in Lan Ha Bay are covered with green trees, even if the island is extremely small.
Although Lan Ha Bay is still not famous among tourists, it is surely one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam. When autumn comes, the weather here is quite cool and beautiful under the light sunshine. This is the time that visitors can enjoy the pleasure and relaxation when sailing and admiring the natural scene of the bay.
2. The ideal time to visit Lan Ha Bay
With a cool climate all year round, you can visit Lan Ha Bay at any time of the year. However, domestic tourists often travel to Lan Ha Bay from April to October while international tourists choose to come here from November to March.
3. Where to go in Lan Ha Bay?
Lying right next to Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha still has its own beauty and is completely different from Ha Long Bay. There are many tourist attractions that you should not miss on your trip to Lan Ha Bay.
This cave is on Bo Hon Island, in front of the cave is Hon Con Rua, the right side of it is the Heaven Gate. Luon Cave attracts visitors not only by the unique shape but also the harmonious of natural scene. The cliffs here are upright and the water is clear blue as a mirror four seasons round.
Nam Cat Island
Nam Cat Island is attractive to travellers by the wild beauty. Four sides of this island are surrounded by forests and the sea creating a strange but charming scene. From Ben Beo, take a boat about 15 minutes then you will reach Nam Cat. Because of the pristine appearance of this island that visitors coming here always enjoy the feeling of peace. Human intervention in Nam Cat is strictly limited to maintaining its natural value. In addition, this island has a full range of services for tourists from kayaking, scuba diving, fishing to camp fire activities, night parties.
Monkey Island (Cat Dua Island)
To reach Monkey Island, you will have to take a boat from Ben Beo passing through Cai Beo fishing village and some small islands. It takes only about 10 minutes. Previously, Monkey Island was called as Cat Dua Island because there are many wild pineapple plants that look delicious but not eatable. At present, this island is called Dao Khi. Because there are more than 20 monkeys of Cat Ba National Park here. They often go to the beach to play with tourists. Gradually, people become more similar to the name Monkey Island.
Van Boi Beach – Hon Rua
Hon Rua – Van Boi Beach is a popular destination for kayaking as well as swimming in Lan Ha Bay because it is located in a quiet part of the bay with cool blue water and beautiful landscapes.
Another place that you cannot miss when coming to Lan Ha is the Turtle Island (Hon Rua). It is called “Turtle Island” because the shape of it is like a turtle swimming on the water. It is close to Ben Beo road to Viet Hai Village.
